Traprock was founded in 1979 to promote nonviolence, peace and to end the nuclear arms race. Over the years, the mission has expanded to include a wide range of issues relating to peace-making, including counter-recruitment, stop the war vigils and marches, forums on international relations, skills of nonviolence and conflict resolution. We have also been a center for community, with potlucks, singing, commemorations (Hiroshima) and celebrations (Human Rights, MLK, July 4th Interdependence Day, etc) and the development of a peace news/action website. The organization is currently in transition, and is re-evaluating its vision, mission, and program. We are looking for an Executive Director.

Terms: Part time, salary $15,000, hours negotiable.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
1. Have a personal commitment to proactive peace-making and nonviolence.
2. Be able to communicate clearly in writing and public speaking, manage conflict, offer careful feedback to others, have a collaborative style, be a good listener, be open to others' ideas/timing/critique, and be comfortable with people of all class and cultural backgrounds.
3. Show patience, grace, and a positive attitude; be able to maintain calm in stressful situations without yielding to pessimism and despair.
4. Planning and management skills: be able to plan ahead, follow through, and communicate in timely way with colleagues.
5. Have organizing experience in outreach, publicity, facilitation, planning and logistics, and collaboration with other organizations.
6. Assist the Board to develop: (1) a specific one-year action plan and monthly action plans that include a means to measure their effectiveness; (2) a one-year fund-raising plan, including preparing grant proposals and/or assisting board members in preparing proposals.
7. Interact with the public, providing programs that expand awareness and stimulate action for peace-making.
8. Maintain connections with the broader peace movement , for example through speakers, forums, authors, and leaders of actions.
9. Administrative duties: record expenditures and contributions (in collaboration with the Board Treasurer), budget public events, respond to mail, email, and other contacts, plan for and supervise volunteers, have basic computer and information retrieval skills, manage a calendar of events, website oversight (in collaboration with a webmaster) for timely posting of Traprock events and news; inclusion of news/essays/videos prepared by Traprock and other Valley organizations as well as important items from outside the area; timely archiving of items.
