Help Massachusetts Voters End the War

Dear Friends,

It's time to let the people vote on the war!

The Statewide Campaign to Bring Our Troops Home Now is working to place the following referendum on the ballot in every State Representative District in Massachusetts:

Shall the State Representative from this district be instructed to vote in favor of a resolution calling upon the President and the U.S. Congress to end the war in Iraq immediately and bring our troops home.

This campaign is the first of its kind in the entire nation. If it is successful, it will serve as a model for campaigns in every other state. All eyes are on us.

Our friends in eastern Massachusetts are working hard to get the referendum on the ballot in their congressional districts. We've got 20 districts here in Western Mass, and we have committed to getting the referendum on the ballot in every single one of them. We're confident that this is possible, with your help. It only takes the signatures of 200 registered voters to get this non-binding resolution on the ballot in a single State Representative District for this November's mid-term election.

We are writing to you because you have shown a firm commitment to ending the war and your help has been instrumental in past campaigns against the war. Thank you for your dedication and all you have done. Now we need your help again. We cannot do this without you. We need your help collecting signatures in your district.

The petitions will be available on April 18. Once we have the petitions, we need to start collecting signatures and get them in as soon as possible to have them validated. Once on the ballot, we will need all the help we can get publicizing the referendum and gathering all the support we can in order to secure the YES vote in every district.

Although the work of collecting signatures will not begin until April 18, we want to be as prepared as possible, and make sure that once we receive the petitions, we are mobilized to get our 200 signatures in every district.

Please help us mobilize for this incredibly important and exciting initiative. We will contact you soon to talk to you about working together to make this happen. Otherwise, you can contact us at afsc@crocker.com or 413.584.8975. When you respond, please include your name and the town you live in so that we can co-ordinate teams based on legislative districts.

Thank you again for all you do,

Kasia Paprocki, AFSC
