The Pelham Carbon Watchers/Pelham Transition Town is very happy to announce that Tina Clarke, a trainer for the Transition Towns movement, will be coming to Pelham to give a two hour presentation on what transition means and how we can begin. Those of us who are offering the Pelham Carbon Watchers attended a full training last April (with Tina) and have created a Pelham Transition Towns endeavor. Our Carbon Watchers group is one part of that but we hope to capture the interest, imagination and vision of others! Please come and learn about this movement!

Transition Towns are communities proactively addressing the "Triple Challenge" of long-term rising energy costs, economic instability and climate change. Launched in the U.K., 1,000 communities are now involved in Transition in that nation. The Transition Handbook was among the top ten books read by Members of Parliament in 2008. The Transition Towns model and process helps local citizens and groups work together to build resilience for economic and environmental changes unfolding locally and globally. Tina Clarke is one of the TransitionTown trainers in the U.S. She will present the process for engaging the community in creative transition from dependence upon non-renewable energy sources to greater community resilience and quality of life.
