FIRST ISSUE: MARCH, 2007
A quarterly publication from Western Massachusetts that
offers
an analysis of
contemporary events,
spotlights strategies and
considers how we work
to remain active against injustice.
Named for the Diggers of Northamptonshire,
England, who rose up in the 17th Century to retain their rights to “dig
up manure and sow corn upon the Common,” in essence, to
live commonly with dignity and justice. Between 1966-68, a group of actors
in San Francisco revived the Diggers. Their Free Bread and Free Stores
taught what it means to live free from the tyranny of money.
There was once a Digger group in Florence, MA. We are the Newest
Diggers and this is our broadsheet. Post it up, read it, tell the world about it.

Welcome
The Valley War Bulletin is published by a media collective whose primary
task is to offer alternative news and views for the Pioneer Valley
communities. We challenge the U.S. pro-war media through news accounts and
journalistic essays that offer an internationalist perspective on local,
regional and global events. We write to expose abuses of power in its
manifold forms, and we encourage our readers to write their own stories,
become politically engaged, and organize in the face of injustice.
We also host a monthly radio show called Radio Shays: The Voice of the
Valley War Bulletin on 103.3FM WXOJ Valley Free Radio. Catch us on the air
on the third Thursday of each month from 6 - 7 pm. Listen to Valley Free Radio on-line.
Also on WXOJ, Friday evenings, from 6 - 7 pm, VWB collective member Tim Scott hosts the
labor hour, Bread and Roses.
